Sharp began commercial solar sales in 1963. Since then, Sharp has led the solar electric industry with efficient, affordable systems and powers more homes and businesses that any other solar manufacturer in the world. Today, we offer a vast portfolio of proven solar solutions, including monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon and our newest innovation, tandem-junction thin film silicon.
Sharp Solar is Clean
A Sharp solar electric system generates no harmful emissions—zero. This means you can power your home, business or power plant with 100 percent pure sunshine that's not only clean, it's also renewable and abundant. So abundant in fact, it's been calculated that a 100-square-mile array of solar modules in the Southwestern United States could generate enough electricity to power the entire country.
Sustainability Guides our Actions
As our contribution to achieving a low-carbon society, Sharp’s factories are designed to reduce environmental impact and achieve higher levels of sustainability.
“Buy American” ARRA-eligible
Since 2003, Sharp has maintained solar module operations at our manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. Nearly 400 employees proudly manufacture, test and perform quality control measures at this 160 megawatt plant, where we produced our two-millionth solar module in June, 2010.
In addition to creating “green collar” factory jobs, all Sharp solar products sold in the United States qualify as American goods under the “Buy American” clause of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
