LAS VEGAS, NV, January 8, 2009 -- Sharp is introducing two new micro-audio systems that deliver powerful sound and advanced features to meet the needs of today’s music enthusiasts. The 160-watt XL-DH258NH and 64-watt XL-DH228NH micro-audio systems combine advanced audio technology with the hip functionality of an iPod docking system, as well as a USB port for slotMusic®, the newest format of digital music listening.

The new XL-DH258NH and XL-DH228NH offer the ideal audio solution for virtually any environment. Equipped with a top-mounted iPod® dock, these new models allow for the playback and charging of all iPod generations. Additionally, these units add a USB port for easy connection to slotMusic, a versatile new physical music format that allows users to listen to their favorite music from any microSD™ enabled device. With slotMusic, listeners can store up to 1GB of music on a microSD card that easily connects to Sharp’s new audio systems. Users can also play MP3 and WMA files via a USB jump drive or a Slot Music USB drive. Both models also feature a stealth single-tray CD player that is compatible with multiple formats and music codes including CD-R/CD-RW, MP3 and WMA. An audio input on the front of the systems offers an additional convenient connection.
Available in glossy black, these compact systems pack a powerful punch. Amplifier power provides 80 watts per channel for the XL-DH258NH and 32 watts per channel for the XL-DH228NH. Bass boost is provided by the X-BASS (Extra Bass) System.
For added convenience, an AM/FM digital tuner offers 40-station random preset memory. The 6-mode Preprogrammed Electronic Equalizer enables users to tailor sound to their preferences, and a 32-track Automatic Programmable Music Selector allows listeners to customize the order of music playback, as well as CD random and repeat playback. Both models include clock and sleep timers and a full function remote control.
Pricing and Availability
- The XL-DH258NH will be available in June for a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $199.99.
- The XL-DH228NH will be available in July for an MSRP of $179.99.
