| Year 2000 Status For Internal Operations |
We define our goal for the internal systems as being "Year 2000 Functional", or Y2F. Y2F in this context means that the system will be capable of correctly processing and/or receiving date data from now until at least 2035 provided that all inputs exchanged with the relevant system contain accurate date data themselves and that all software, firmware and hardware used in the relevant system are functioning correctly, are being used in accordance with their documentation, and are providing accurate date data output or are accepting inputs of accurate data from other systems.
Sharp's goal was to have all identified critical systems Year 2000 Functional so as to minimize any significant problems for itself and its customers and to be prepared to address unforeseen issues, if any, as they arise.

| Year 2000 Status For Sharp Products |
SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION'S YO-550 PERSONAL ORGANIZER, SOLD IN THE U.S. IN 1996 AND 1997, IS SUBJECT TO A PROGRAMMING FAULT THAT CAUSES THE DEVICE TO RESET WHEN THE DATE CHANGES TO 2001 OR LATER. UNFORTUNATELY, ANY CUSTOMER ENTERED DATA FROM THE DEVICE NOT BACKED UP TO A PERSONAL COMPUTER WILL NOT BE RECOVERABLE.
SHARP ELECTRONICS WILL REPAIR, FREE OF CHARGE, ANY YO-550 THAT IS AFFECTED BY THE DATE ERROR. CUSTOMERS WILL NEED TO CALL EITHER 1-630-378-3590 OR 1-800-310-3012 TO SEND THE UNIT IN FOR SERVICE.
As the Year 2000 approached, many corporations and businesses were concerned about the continued operation of their business equipment past the Year 2000. The products they currently use or plan to purchase must be capable of correctly processing, receiving, interpreting, managing, and manipulating data without experiencing incorrect results when processing date-related information.
Sharp Electronics Corporation is sensitive to our customer's business needs, therefore, we worked to identify and communicate all Year 2000 issues.
The Sharp EF3000 and EF3500 Document Filing systems are Y2K Functional. However, there are some features of the software that may not perform correctly. To correct this, a Microsoft Windows Version 3.1 and 3.11 patch is required and is available from Microsoft's Support web site
Also, Norton 2000 is required. It is available from your local computer retailer. In addition, some workarounds are available for certain fields to display correctly. Other instructions are available to achieve adequate functionality for this product.
This information is not a warranty and does not modify or extend warranties. Only written warranties made by your dealer or by Sharp at the time of original sale of the Sharp product to an end-user in its factory carton apply, and then, only for the periods referred to in the original warranty documentation.
We are making this information available to you so that you can plan your "turn of the century" programs with the knowledge that Sharp's document filing systems will function properly.
Thank you for your interest in Sharp products.
