SHARP 2008 AUDIO SYSTEMS OFFER FULL PALETTE OF ENHANCED FEATURES FOR CONSUMERS’ DIGITAL MUSIC ENJOYMENT

LAS VEGAS, NV, JANUARY 7, 2008 -- Sharp is introducing an array of striking new mini- and micro-audio systems that deliver powerful sound and advanced features to meet the needs of today’s music enthusiasts. iPod® connectivity and front-panel A/V inputs lead the list of features that make Sharp music systems among the most advanced models available.

“Consumers have a wide range of audio playback options,” said Bob Pleyer, senior product marketing manager, audio, Entertainment Products Division, Sharp. “Sharp’s new shelf systems deliver the powerful, pristine sound you’d expect from a high-quality audio system along with additional playback features designed to meet the needs of a broad range of users.”

Micro-Audio Systems
The 160-watt XL-DK257 and 64-watt XL-DK227 lead Sharp’s new micro-audio system line. The two models boast iPod docks, providing playing and charging functions from a sleek pocket-style dock. Stealth single-tray CD players are compatible with multiple formats and music codes including CD-R/CD-RW, MP3 and WMA. Amplifier power provides 80 watts per channel for the XL-DK257 and 32 watts per channel for the XL-DK227. The AM/FM digital tuner offers 40-station random preset memory. The 6-mode Preprogrammed Electronic Equalizer enables users to tailor sound to their preferences. Bass boost is provided by the X-BASS (Extra Bass) System.

Rounding out the line of iPod-compatible systems are the XL-DK226, XL-DK255 and XL-DK225, which charge an iPod from a dock at the top of the main unit. The XL-DK226 adds a single-disc CD player while the XL-DK255 and XL-DK225 sport five-disc CD changers which keep playing while users are swapping CDs. The XL-DK226 packs a 48-watt-per-channel amplifier, and the XL-DK255 is powered by 50 watts per side. The XL-DK225 has a 20-watt-per-channel amplifier. Additional features include AM/FM Digital Tuner with 40-Station Random Preset Memory, 6-Mode Preprogrammed Electronic Equalizer and X-BASS (Extra Bass) System.

Mini-Audio Systems
Sharp’s powerful mini-audio system line begins with the 600-watt CD-G14000, which divides amplifier power between left and right speakers and a powered subwoofer. A five-tray CD changer allows users to switch discs while another is playing, and the versatile player handles music CDs and CD-R/RW discs along with MP3 and WMA files. For even more flexibility, the CD-G14000 offers AM/FM radio with 40 station presets and a full-logic double cassette deck.

In the mini component system line, the CD-SW340 offers Sharp’s new Music Port for playback of MP3s in addition to CDs. The five-disc CD changer allows users to swap out four discs while a fifth is playing for uninterrupted music. The 500-watt system includes two speakers and a subwoofer for extended bass. Multi-colored lights on the front speakers and subwoofer flash along with the music. Additional audio sources include an AM/FM tuner with 40 station presets and a full-logic dual cassette deck.

The CD-MPX880 is a new 125-watt-per-channel mini component system with Music Port for playback of MP3s. The system includes a five-disc CD changer that keeps playing while users change discs that can be standard CDs or CD-R discs with MP3 or WMA files. The two-line text display reads CD tagging information. Additional sources include AM/FM radio with 40 station presets and a full-logic double cassette deck.

All new music systems in the Sharp 2008 line are Energy Star-compliant. They include clock and sleep timers and full-function remote controls.
