MAHWAH, NJ, April 11, 2008 -- Sharp expands its air conditioner offerings beyond fixed window units with two standalone portable air conditioners, models CV-P12LX and CV-P10MX. These powerful air conditioners feature stylish designs and ultra-quiet operations that integrate seamlessly into practically any room of the house. With robust cooling capabilities, the CV-P12LX and CV-P10MX offer consumers a convenient and effective way to supplement central air conditioning systems in rooms that need additional cooling.

The CV-P12LX and CV-P10MX units have high-cooling capacities of 11,500 BTU and 9,500 BTU respectively (based on ASHRAE* 128 standards). Both units feature a Mega Cool mode that delivers a refreshing wave of cool air at 280 cubic feet per minute. The versatile units also include Sharp's proprietary Plasmacluster^® technology that is featured in Sharp’s air purifiers, as well as a dehumidifier mode that can handle up to 65 pints of water per day on the CV-P12LX and 60 pints of water per day on the CV-P10MX.

Operating at only 36 dB in the low mode, these units add very little to the ambient noise in a room so that users don’t sacrifice a night’s sleep trying to stay cool. A remote control with an easy-to-read LCD screen allows users to adjust settings from across the room without leaving the comfort of their chair or bed and can be stored on the units when not in use. These units feature an elegant design with air inlets located on the front and sides of the units so that they can be positioned flush against a wall.
